Ethiopians at home and in the Diaspora today held a one day social media campaign to bring to light the predicament of prisoners of conscience in TPLF prisons.

Campaigners posted pictures and stories of hundreds of prisoners of conscience and political prisoners who were being tortured by prison guards, interrogators and spies of the TPLF.

Stories of prisoners who were put behind bars for merely being critics of the TPLF regime and for their affiliation with opposition political parties were shared on Facebook and Twitter.

The campaign remembers prisoners who have undergone tortures of unimaginable nature such as damage to reproductive organs, removal of toenails and use of electrocution, among others.

Organizers say the campaign is aimed at drawing the attention of Ethiopians and the international community to the plight of prisoners of conscience in TPLF prisons. It is also aimed at letting prisoners know that they were not forgotten and they were not alone.
